Did you know...
Established in 1979, and family owned and operated, Lochnell Pacific (Rock) and Native (European or Flat) Oysters are responsibly and sustainably harvested from Loch Linnhe, near Oban, Argyll and Bute, Scotland.

Loch Linnhe is a tidal sea loch (about 9.3 miles in length and 1.2 miles in width) that stretches past Fort William in the north and past Loch Leven in the south. Loch Linnhe is famous for its spectacular scenery, wonderful sunsets, and wildlife such as seals, porpoises, dolphins and sea birds.

Nearby Oban is known as the "Gateway to the Isles", as ferries based in Oban take tourists out to the islands to enjoy the scenery and wildlife. Oban is a harbour resort town, which has been built around a horseshoe bay. Oban has recently been promoted as the "Seafood Capital of Scotland", due to the abundance of local shellfish and seafood available at its harbour stalls, seafood cafes, restaurants and hotels. In the tourist season, Oban's population swells from 8,500 to about 25,000. Oban hosts the annual Scottish Shellfish Growers Conference; and is home to the Scottish Association of Marine Science (SAMS).

Lochnell Pacific Oysters won the Best Pacific (Rock) Oyster Award at the Scottish Shellfish Growers Conference 2014. Lochnell Oysters was short-listed for the Stewardship Award, and the Innovation Award at the bi-annual Scottish Marine Aquaculture Awards 2015.

Lochnell Pacific and Native Oysters are featured on many of the restaurants on the West Coast of Scotland.
