Established in 1994, and family owned and operated; Menai oyster farm covers a small area of inter-tidal waters at the Menai Strait, near the coastal village of Brynsciencyn, Isle of Anglesey, Wales.

The Menai Strait is a narrow channel of shallow water of about 16 miles in length that separates the Island of Anglesey from the mainland of Wales. The depth of the channel is about 15 metres; and the current can exceed 7 knots. The Menai Strait has one of the fastest tidal ranges in the world, with unpredictable currents and whirlpools. As a result, the Menai Strait is one of the most treacherous waterways in Wales.

The Menai Strait is a Designated Special Area of Conservation. The land at the Menai Strait is a Designated Site of Special Scientific Interest; and the land on Anglesey at the eastern end of the strait is Designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Menai Pacific Oysters are featured on menus at top oyster bars, restaurants, and hotels in the UK.

Nearby is the Menai Suspension Bridge. Thomas Telford (a civil engineer) led the design of the Menai Suspension Bridge over the Menai Strait to link Anglesley to mainland Wales; and needed to allow for Royal Navy tall ships to pass under the deck of the bridge at high tide. In 1819, work started with the construction of the limestone towers on either side of the Menai Strait. On 30 January 1826, the Menai Suspension Bridge was officially opened. As the largest suspension bridge in the world, the span measured 176 metres. In 1893, the entire wooden deck was replaced by a steel deck, and in 1938 the wrought iron chains were replaced by steel chains. The Menai Suspension Bridge is only eight miles from the spectacular medievil Caernarfon Castle, which is a World Heritage Site.
