Teignmouth Wild Pacific Oysters are wild and sustainably harvested by hand in inter-tidal waters at the River Teign Estuary, Teignmouth, Devon, England.

The River Teign Estuary is a Designated Shellfish Area; a Site of Special Scientific Interest; a Special Area of Conservation; and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Freshest oysters possible
Teignmouth Wild Pacific Oysters remain in the River Teign Estuary from seed until market size (takes 2 to 3 years).

Once harvested, these oysters are cleaned and purified in filtered natural seawater, packed live to order in boxes, and dispatched by the oyster farm's depuration and dispatch centre (Monday to Thursday), for next day courier delivery to our clients' addresses in mainland UK (Tuesday to Friday).

Store and consume
For the freshest and best flavour, store Pacific Oysters in the fridge and consume within 4-5 days from delivery. Oysters can be consumed raw or cooked.

Established in 2010, and family owned and operated; Teignmouth oyster farm covers an area of inter-tidal waters at the River Teign Estuary, near the seaside town of Teignmouth, Devon, England.

 

The River Teign Estuary is a Designated Shellfish Area; a Site of Special Scientific Interest; a Special Area of Conservation; and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

 

The River Teign is 31 miles in length and runs from Dartmoor to the the English Channel at Teignmouth. The River Teign has two tributaries at about 500 metres at Dartmoor. The North and South Teigh merge at Leigh Bridge, Chagford. The River Teign becomes an estuary at at Newton Abbot and reaches the sea at Teignmouth.

 

The banks of the Teign Estuary were settled by the Saxons at least until 682. A battle between the Saxons and Ancient Britons was recorded on Haldon in 927, and Danish raids occured at the Teign Estuary in 1001.

 

Today, Teignmouth is a popular summer holiday destination that attracts thousands of visitors who enjoy the beach, the pier, amusement rides and other attractions.

 

Teignmouth Wild Pacific Oysters are featured on menus at top restuarants and hotels in the South West.
