Orford Pacific Oysters (also known as Butley Creek Oysters) are cultivated and sustainably harvested by hand in sub-tidal waters at the Butley River or Butley Creek Estuary, Orford, Suffolk, England.

Orford Pacific Oysters are distinctive in appearance with fan-like fluted shells.

Size: Small (60-80g approx), Medium (80-110g approx), Large (110-140g approx).

Freshest oysters possible
Orford Pacific Oysters remain in the Butley River or Butley Creek Estuary from seed until market size (takes 2 to 3 years).

Once harvested, these oysters are cleaned, purified in natural seawater from Butley Creek, and packed live to order in boxes at the oyster farm (Monday to Thursday) for next day courier delivery to our clients' addresses in mainland UK (Tuesday to Friday).

Store and consume
For the freshest and best flavour, store Pacific Oysters in the fridge and consume within 4-5 days from delivery. Oysters can be consumed raw or cooked.

Established in 1948, and family owned and operated; Orford oyster farm covers a small area of sub-tidal waters at the narrow and shallow Butley River (also known as Butley Creek), near the coastal town of Orford, Suffolk, England.

 

The River Butley is a tributary of the River Ore. The River Butley is a Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The River Ore is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a Designated Special Area of Conservation, and a Designated Special Protection Area. Boyton Marshes is situated between the River Butley and the River Ore, and is a reserve for the Royal Society for the Protection of Bids.
